The licence
London System Chess is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA). That agreement is the Terms of Use for the app. This page explains how it applies here, and how the Season Ticket works. If anything on this page seems to disagree with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA applies.
The Season Ticket
The app is free to download, and its free lessons and features have no time limit. The Season Ticket unlocks all 100 lessons, every Mind the Gap puzzle, unlimited Rush Hour, all six Sparring Partner levels and the premium board themes. You buy it in the app, through Apple, in one of three forms:
- Yearly: a subscription that renews every year. If you haven’t subscribed before, it starts with a 7-day free trial.
- Monthly: a subscription that renews every month.
- Lifetime: a single payment. It never renews.
Before you confirm, the App Store shows the price in your currency. Prices can differ from country to country.
Renewal and cancelling
- Payment is taken from your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. With the free trial, the first payment is taken when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal is charged in the 24 hours before the period ends.
- To manage or cancel a subscription, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Apple’s guide: Cancel a subscription from Apple.
- When you cancel, the Season Ticket keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Buying Lifetime doesn’t cancel a yearly or monthly subscription. Cancel it yourself, or it keeps renewing.
- If a subscription price changes, Apple tells you before your next renewal and, where its rules require, asks you to agree to the new price.
Refunds
Apple handles payments, so refunds are Apple’s decision under its own policies. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Apple’s guide explains how: Request a refund. If a purchase is refunded, the Season Ticket stops working.
The course
The course text and annotations, the puzzles, the pieces and boards, the sounds and Bertie are the work of Bohdan Ivanchenko and are protected by copyright. They’re for your own use: please don’t copy, publish or sell them. The moves themselves belong to everyone. That’s chess.
Every line in the course is checked with Stockfish, but no course can promise results. Bertie will help you remember the London; winning your games is still up to you.
Chess.com and Lichess
Game Checkup can fetch your public games from Chess.com, or read games you paste or import from Lichess or anywhere else. Those are separate services with their own terms. London System Chess isn’t affiliated with, or endorsed by, either of them.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page, for example when the Season Ticket changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
